NEW North Kansas City Support Group Location for ASH

Autism Society - The Heartland chapter is happy to announce that we now have a 3rd support group meeting location in North Kansas City! The North KC support group meetings will be held the 2nd Thursday of every month from 7-9 pm @ 915 Highway, Liberty, MO 64068 and hosted by Jenny Whitty (radioturtle@hotmail.com)
 
We also have monthly support group meetings at the following locations:
Overland Park, Kansas on the 4th Thursday of the month 7-9pm http://www.asaheartland.org/community/events/support-group-meeting-OPKS

MO Autism Insurance Bill (HB1311) Passes!

 

Wonderful news! Missouri passed HB1311, a bill that requires state regulated insurance companies to cover services for children with autism as of January 1, 2011.  See the attachments for details!

Highlights:
  • Birth to 18 years
  • up to $40K year for ABA (can be exceeded if medically necessary and carrier has provided prior agreement)
  • No session limits on Speech or OT therapy
  • State licensure (which requires BCBA certification) is required for behavior analysts, but front line therapists (implementers) will not have to register
