Canoe Trip

2014 6th Annual ASH Family Weekend Getaway and Canoe Trip

When: Weekend of June 21

Where: We will be staying at Windermere Resort, Roach Missouri.

(about 155 miles from Kansas City)

*New This year*

Friday night event

Canoe workshop and family get together. New to canoeing but want to try? The outfitters will be at Windemere on hand to host a training session so you can literally "get your feet wet" in the safety of the lake. Learn the basics of paddling, steering, navigation, and what to do to handle obstacles.

Also come on down and meet the other families who are there this weekend.

Non-Canoe Activity

Join others and visit Ha Ha Tonka State Park with major sites of the Castle, Whipering Dells, and the Coliseum. For more information on Ha Ha Tonka Park go to http://mostateparks.com/park/ha-ha-tonka-state-park.

Canoeing information: We will be doing an 8 mile, 4 hour canoe trip on the lower section of the Big Niangua River. This is a quiet, semi-private part of the river with few difficult areas. Our outfitters will help families new to canoeing.

For those not canoeing or going to Ha Ha Tonka Windermere resort offers a wide area of activities including swimming, fishing, hiking, exploring caves, and miniature golf. There are also nearby Ozark shopping areas. Windermere’s website: www.windermereusa.org

Cost: Windermere offers a wide variety of housing options from camping to family cabins to full price hotel rooms. You will need to book your own accommodations.  If you choose another accommodation please let Brad know so he can have an accurate count.
