Yeast - How do you know if it's a problem

Are there typical symptoms of yeast overgrowth?  Can you tell there is a problem w/o medical testing?  My 2.5 year old is having trouble staying asleep at night and taking naps during the day.  She will stay awake for hours when she wakes up in the middle of the night and we have to give her melatonin to get her to wind down and go to sleep every night.  Her teachers have also said her urine has a distinct smell to it.  I went ahead and started her on Nystatin last night but am not really sure the best dosage to give a child under 30 lbs. The prescription says 1 tsp 3x day.  Does that sound right?  How and how soon can you tell if it's working?

It's been awhile since you posted this and I wondered if you got things figured out.

If not I can provide more info.
