KCKPS Transition Resource FairA FREE Family Empowerment Conference for Wyandotte County families whose children have disabilies.
Parent Rights in Special Education ‐ We will take a step‐by‐step look at the special education process with an emphasis on parental rights. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) ‐ We’ll begin with the basics ‐ what an IEP is, brainstorming and preplanning, understanding the various parts of the IEP, from developing the present levels to determining the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Transition to Adulthood ‐ This is a must for parents with a youth ages 14 or older. You will discover how transition planning as part of the IEP can prepare your child for life after high school. Building Partnerships Parent Panel ‐ We’ll hear from other parents as they share stories about their journey. Transition Resource Fair will be 1 p.m. ‐ 3 p.m. Visit with local and state agencies that support transition age youth and young adults - including Autism Society - The Heartland!
