Autism Society

Exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism by increasing public awareness, advocating for appropriate services, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy. Autism Society - The Heartland is a local chapter of the national Autism Society organization.

They maintain a comprehensive resource database for autism-related services and supports, which are searchable by state, county, city, and zip code.

A comprehensive planning service that assists families with planning for your loved one with special needs in the areas of financial, benefit protection and application, continuity of care, and transition planning.

 Missouri Division of Developmental Disabilities- Kansas City Regional Center

Serves individuals with developmental disabilities such as cognitive disabilities, cerebral palsy, head injuries, autism, epilepsy, and certain learning disabilities. Kansas City Regional Office is the primary point of entry for the following counties: Platte, Clay, Ray, Jackson, Lafayette, Cass, Johnson, and Bates. Kansas City does not provide paid services. However, regional offices purchase services from contracted agencies licensed by the Department of Mental Health or other national accrediting agencies.

Beach Center on Disability -The University of Kansas

A multi-disciplinary research and training center committed to making a significant and sustainable positive difference in the quality of life of individuals and families affected by disability and the professionals who support them.


Children's Mercy Hospital Department of Developmental & Behavioral Sciences

Provide comprehensive evaluation and accurate diagnosis to each family with complete treatment recommendations. Also provide education to families by linking them to proper resources/therapies in the community to enable early intervention.


Joshua Center for Neurological Disorders

Provides custom programs for individuals and families, clinical care, counseling, social skills development, staff development, support groups for affected individuals and families, children's summer camp, full-featured discussion forums, articles, research, terminology definitions, publications, links to relevant resources, and volunteer programs.
